Leela Sweater Test Call
My Most Important Design To-Date

I’ve tried writing this email so many different ways and I can’t seem to get it right. So, I’ve decided to ignore the urge to find the perfect words and just get it out there.
Meet the Leela Sweater.
This is my latest design, which is inspired by my mum.
Most of you won’t know this, but she passed away in 2020. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss her.
She was the person who taught me how to knit. She encouraged me to pick it back up when I was struggling with burnout and my mental health in 2018. It was something we shared and did together. It was the beginning of ImmyKnits.
Since starting my knitwear design journey, I’ve wanted to make a pattern inspired by my mum. Something classic and timeless but rooted in my memories of her.
It’s taken me years, but I’ve finally managed to create something that I feel is worthy of her name.
I’ve collaborated with the wonderful people at Knitting for Olive, who kindly provided yarn sponsorship for this process. They’re one of my all-time favourite yarn brands and it’s been such a surreal experience to work with them on this project.
The Leela is worked top-down, seamlessly and in the round. It features lifted increases, which add visual interest to the raglan shaping and multiple options for customisation. Knitters can chose between a cropped or tunic length, rolled or ribbed hems, crew or funnel neck, and adding optional pockets. This sweater is designed to have a classic fit with less ease than I typically offer.
Leela is available in 9 sizes, with a finished bust circumference ranging from 83.5cm (33.5”) to 163.5cm (65.5”). All details and specifications can be found in the application form.
If you are interested in test knitting this sweater, please fill out the application form. Testers will be selected and contacted by August 18th.
I hope you love this design as much as I do!

What a beautiful tribute to your mother! My mama passed away in 2021. She taught me to knit, and whenever I pick up my needles I can feel her presence guiding me.
Beautiful! My mom also passed away in 2020. Hugs to you. I know your mom would love this sweater. ❤️
I’m excited to make this when I have a little more knitting time!
